Congratulations to Lindsay & Anthony, who tied the knot on May 16th at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Cedar Grove, NJ.

The celebration continued with over 250 of their closest family and friends at the beautiful Westmount Country Club in West Paterson, NJ.

The couple choose their colors of navy and a vibrant fuschia, and we combined their colors with a modern polka dot theme on all their stationery and decor. You can see the invitations we created for them here.

Smokin' Section kept the party rockin, the photobooth provided by NJ Photobooths had guests lining up to get in on the fun, and cigar roller Tony Santana completed the entertainment - a FANTASTIC time was had by all!

Dawn & David contacted me to create all their wedding stationery, starting with their save the dates.

Coincidentally, they also had the idea to incorporate the design from the china they picked out onto their stationery.

Sarah & Steve's save the dates

Sarah & Steve saw the bookmark save the dates I had created for Alexa & Aaron and loved the idea.

I incorporated their colors of navy, white and red, as well as, a picture of their reception location onto the bookmark. Additionally, the pattern used on the top and back of the bookmark is custom designed to match their china pattern.

Nescel & Geoffrey's invitations

Nescel and Geoff choose their colors of brown, green, and lagoon blue to be reflective of the earth, water and sky. Based on this, I knew I had to create nature inspired invitations for their upcoming spring wedding.

These 3 layer metallic invitations featured a back pocket to hold the enclosures.

The top layer and enclosures were all printed on a beautiful new textured metallic cardstock.

This set featured an information booklet with hotel information on the front and directions to the ceremony & reception on the inside.

{Michelle and Efrain}

We recently had the honor of working with Michelle and Efrain, who exchanged vows on April 19th.

The getting ready & beautifying took place at the Hyatt Summerfield in Whippany, where we were on hand to fix some (3 or 4, but who's counting!?) wardrobe malfunctions (our emergency kit saves the day!).

The ceremony took place at Our Lady of Lourdes in West Orange. The newly married couple along with their bridal party then stopped at Eagle Rock Reservation for a quick photo session and then onto The Atrium in West Orange for dinner and dancing.

The weather forecast called for rain, but as you can see from the pictures below, it never materialized and they had a beautiful day!

Their colors were light pink, ivory and champagne and they designed all the wedding elements with a classic elegant style, while infusing the Filipino and Latino cultures.

Lindsay & Anthony's invitation set

Lindsay and Anthony knew they wanted a really modern design with all lowercase fonts.

I was showing them all my sample invitations and they finally said they wanted something much more modern...more like my business card than any of the samples. They were drawn to the interlocking circle pattern on the back of my business card.

Incidentally, I had just coordinated a wedding at their reception hall, the Westmount Country Club the week before our meeting and I remembered it having a circle pattern on the carpet and circular furniture in the lounge!

I went home and looked through the pictures just to make sure....and sure enough, it did. And so, the circle idea came full circle!

Here are some pictures of their reception room, where my inspiration came from....

Their colors are fuchsia, navy, and white. I used a metallic navy pocketfold sealed with a silk ribbon & 2 layer tag bellyband with rhinestone. The inside featured a 2 layer invitation plus a vellum top layer and 4 insert cards and fuchsia rsvp envelope.

Mayra & Murad were a wedding planner's dream couple. They gave me full creative license, while still staying completely involved in the process.

They wanted to incorporate their colors of pink & black, their cultures (hispanic & arabic), and have a wow factor in everything from the stationery to the food, flowers, and entertainment.

Meryl and Jared's damask save the dates were inspired by their beautiful wedding location - Temple Israel of Lawrence.

These are 2 layer - black linen cardstock backing and smooth matte ivory top layer. The matching black linen envelopes with custom wrap labels complete the set.

This just in....the invitations we custom made for Koriann & Rich's wedding last May are featured in 201 Bride Magazine's winter 2009 edition!

These were metallic 2 layer (pink & ivory) with rhinestone accents and ribbon detailing around the back to hold their enclosures.

Valentine's Day wedding invitations, Part 1

Love is in the air....

This year Valentine's Day fell on a Saturday, which means 1 thing - wedding bells!

Tiffany & Jakub's romantic yet classic invitations featured 2 layer metallic with rhinestone accent and a silk satin ribbon holding the enclosure on the back. The matching red metallic envelope with metallic wrap labels complete the set.

I'm so sorry about the delay in posting this blog, but I wanted to wait to include some professional pictures...so here it is.

Jill and Chris were so much fun. Jill is just so sweet - always smiling, so happy and expressive...not to mention beautiful! I loved working with her leading up to the wedding. We just got along so well, like long lost friends!

Jill was without a doubt the most organized bride I've ever worked with, which made my job so easy! This talented DIY bride made her own invitations, menus, programs, water bottle labels, painted aisle runner, table numbers, memory candles, photo share cards, seating chart, etc, etc, etc.

We decorated the ceremony and reception site with pumpkins and leaves galore. Every last detail, from the reserved seating signs at the ceremony down the to exact placement of each memorial candle was carefully thought (and written!) out and we gladly executed :-)

Mayra & Murad's invitations

Mayra and Murad fell in love with a sample of a petal pouch I had when we first met, so we knew that was going to be used for their invitations. When I asked them about the other details of the wedding, I realized that in addition to the pink & black wedding colors, they had a slight "bling" theme going so I knew we had to incorporate crystals into the invitations.

Mayra loves damask and Murad wasn't so sure about having it on the invitation, so we comprised and included it on the bellyband that wraps around the petal pouch instead.

Alexa & Aaron's save the dates

Alexa is a good friend of mine from college and she asked me to create her save the dates and wedding stationery for her Valentine's Day wedding. Her only guidelines for me were to keep the save the dates romantic and elegant and to preserve the integrity of the 18th century mansion in which their wedding will take place. Here's the picture she sent me of their beautiful ceremony and reception location: Burr Homestead

Alexa is an English teacher (and avid reader) and Aaron is an environmental consultant. I took their interests and combined them to create a bookmark printed on recycled paper...and incorporated a picture of the mansion and some damask to give it that classic elegant feel.

{Melissa and Albert}

Melissa and Albert had a beautiful fall wedding with what like to describe as a funky asian inspired theme and decor. They had a traditional Filipino ceremony at Melissa's family's church in New Milford. We then made our way to the gorgeous grounds at the Skylands Castle in the New Jersey Botanical gardens for formal portraits and then a quick outfit change and a traditional Chinese tea ceremony followed by the reception.

Melissa has to be THE sweetest & calmest bride ever, which made it a pleasure to work with her. Albert was so helpful and took on a several of the DIY projects for the wedding...and did a great job on them!

Congrats to Erika and Al who tied the knot October 3rd at St. Catherine's Church in Holmdel.

The celebration continued with a cocktail style reception at The Raven & the Peach in Fair Haven. The couple choose a blush pink and black color theme with tons of candle light which created an elegant and romantic atmosphere.

The couple choose the notorious Jersey shore cover band, Brian Kirk and the Jirks to provide the music...and they rocked! The dance floor was never empty!

I worked with Erika and Al over the past year on their invitations (fabulous boxed invitations, complete with rose petals and rhinestones!), programs, and seating chart.

Everyone involved did a fantastic job! A special thank you to Jeanine Mangan, who did an amazing job on everyone's makeup.

Connie and Tom are a really talented couple and their wedding showcased their creativity, as well as their love and amazing chemistry.

Connie is extremely organized, detailed, and coupled with her meticulous taste, made my job as her wedding coordinator easy! I really enjoyed working with Connie and Tom over the last year to help turn their wedding vision into a reality.

Connie and Tom's wedding was a fun, bright, multi-cultural & multi-national (Tom is from the UK) affair. They had a beautiful & personal outdoor ceremony at Westmount Country Club that was officiated by Connie's brother. Connie and Tom also incorporated a tea ceremony into their wedding ceremony.

Fuchsia and orange were the colors for the day and were incorporated in everything from the stationery, to the flowers and cake and even in Connie's qipao.

Connie and Tom both have a background in the performing arts, so it's no surprised that their first dance rocked the house or that Tom serenaded Connie and had the entire room cheering.

Krista and Scott's wedding was a blast! They are such a sweet and incredibly fun loving (not to mention gorgeous!) couple and their wedding certainly reflected that. Krista was just so calm and laid back and just had a radiant smile all day long. Scott was was also calm, giddy, and cracking jokes all day long....it was such a pleasure to just be around them and witness their love.

Krista & Scott met while both vacationing in St. Maarten. They choose to use the island's inspired bright colors (hot pink, orange, and lime) for their wedding and pair it with black and white to create an elegant yet fun atmosphere....the perfect palette for a fun summer wedding.

Our blog is live!

I figured it was about time we entered into the blogosphere.
I will be using this forum to keep you up to date with Koru Event Design's lastest events, newest products and happenings and answer to some of the questions we receive!

One of the common questions that we get asked is ,"What does Koru mean?"
From the all-knowing Wikipedia - "The koru is the Maori (indigenous people of New Zealand) name given to the new unfurling fern frond and symbolizes new life, growth, strength and peace."

Here is a picture...and you can see why the O in our logo is shaped the way it is.

So mystery #1 is solved!
